BRIDAL BEAUTY | TOP BEAUTY TIPS LEADING TO YOUR BIG DAY

Preparing at least 4 months in advance for your big day will help to keep you more relaxed, on top of everything, allow you to change appointments if need be, spend more time on you and on the list of other preparations you need to do for your day.

Concentrate on your diet and your skin

This will prep your skin months in advance so you will get the best results from applying tan, makeup and facials before your day.

Concentrating on your diet where you consume a large quantity of fresh fruit and vegetables, whole raw plant based foods and smoothies is a must. I would advise to substitute tea and coffee for herbal tea - there is such a large choice, so many to suit everybody. I would invest in a Nutri Bullet or another good quality fruit/veg/nut blender straight away. This will improve your skin at a deeper level which makes all the difference to photographs to give you the ultimate glow, help clear acne, sensitivity, dryness and hormonal balance. More importantly it makes you feel fantastic. Always eat fruit first. I would blend mainly green veg with a touch of fruit with coconut water or coconut milk in the morning to an empty stomach so the ingredients absorb quickly and effectively. I take a Moa superfood drink every morning to improve my energy, alertness, skin and overall health for the past 2 years now. The difference is incredible. Drink 2 to 3 litres of fresh filtered water daily along with an exercise plan.

Exercise for brain health is so important. That way your focus is more towards health and wellness rather than counting calories which I wouldn't concentrate too much on. Note what food choices you make from day to day and how you can improve them. Small changes go a long way.

For skincare I will always advice to use natural ingredients such as plant and vitamin based antioxidants to balance, calm and hydrate the skin. For skin preparation I would highly recommend Glycolic Peels which are very effective to deeply exfoliate the skin accompanied with Hyaluronic Acid to keep your skin hydrated and blemish free starting up to 4 months before your big day. For more sensitive, reactive and rosacea skin I would recommend ingredients such as shea butter, aloe vera, chamomile and mallow to strengthen the capillary walls, calm and hydrate the skin. Likewise, for oily acne breakouts I would concentrate on your diet accompanied with calming organic anti-bacterial ingredients such as copper, zinc, cinnamon, aloe vera, peppermint, clove to list a few. Salt scrubs and exfoliation is a must

Salt scrubs are very effective to exfoliate dead skin for the body and balance your skin’s ph level. I would go for the circular beads without oil, more cream based products that you can buff off as opposed to wash off to hydrate the skin for longer. If you still suffer from dry skin after using a salt scrub I would increase Omega 3 fatty acids such as flaxseed, linseed, chia seeds, Vitamins A, E and K into your diet.

It’s all about the eyes

Be careful not to over do it. I would leave your eyes to the professionals. I wouldn’t over shape or tint the brows too dark. Brows balance your face and are the finished look, you don’t want to look at your face and look straight to your brows. My advice is to keep it natural - less is more.

To increase the growth in the eyebrows naturally you can contact me personally for advice - provided it is months ahead of your wedding. If you have little to no growth I would research your options for more semi permanent solutions, Phibrows is one option. There are really good choices out there. Always make sure to go for a consultation first which should be complementary and get a 24 hour patch test for tinting. There are vegan tints available on the market that would be gentler than other types.

I would recommend a lash enhancement not a perm - more of lift and volume of your own natural lashes. This method is very effective as your eyes are enhanced with very little makeup. They last a minimum of 6 weeks. A 24 hour patch test is required before lash treatments. If you opt for lash extensions make sure you go to someone that has done them before for you and come highly recommended. The last thing you need is lashes moving on your day.

Hair removal for silky smooth and healthy skin

For hair removal I would recommend sugaring as a natural alternative. The results are more permanent than waxing, prevents and treats ingrown hairs, you can get treatments done in between laser treatments. The sugaring treatment softens the follicle so the hair slips out easier. It is less painful than other hair removal methods providing you don’t let it grow too long. Once every three weeks is recommended initially, as time progresses this can change to a later stage. It is most suitable for facial hair removal as it is gentle to use on all areas. No patch test is needed for organic treatments.

Next time I will advise you on what tans work best for your skin, hands and feet preparations, and last but not least - makeup - for enhancing your look not masking your skin so your true beauty radiates out.
